About the Event

Taking a systems approach helps to deal with the increasing complexity of our products and capabilities, and the environments in which they are operated. Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) can be effective in design for today’s world, and aid in managing and communicating technical information.

Most organisations will have touched on MBSE, but the transformation is far from complete. To be successful, teams need to first understand the foundational concepts. Some myths and misconceptions exist around evaluating and deploying MBSE:

  • “This will just add another software tool”
  • “Modelling and simulation is too complex for our project”
  • “Our client expects us to deliver only documents”
  • “I’m creating all of the diagrams, so we're already doing this”

This 3-hour presentation (plus breaks) covers the most important aspects that engineers and organisations need to consider when rolling out MBSE or refining existing MBSE approaches. Through discussions of the fundamental concepts, the focus is maintained on the true deliverables – the system itself and overall project success.

The session will be equally valuable for:

  • Engineers who implement MBSE approaches, or who have an interest in understanding more about MBSE
  • Managers and decision makers responsible for systems engineering efforts
  • Other stakeholders and project representatives that want to know what questions should be asked when evaluating MBSE approaches
  • People who have interest in the information that underpins the wider digital engineering thread throughout the engineering lifecycle

Whether your organisation or project is working in the conceptual design phase to better understand and define mission and system requirements, or in the system design phase to establish and verify the system architecture, this presentation aims to demonstrate the role and value of model-based approaches.
